The servers hosting the email listed in in the whois are registered to a fake company pretending to be a domain name seller in Panama City. The whole entry is fake likely as the address listed doesn't exist. I'm running Malwarebytes now and I'll update this post if anything comes up.Įdit 2. I also have OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems Inc, Primetime Content Decryption Module by Adobe Systems Inc, Flash, and Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc. I have NoScript (which was disabled at the time of the web page showing up), Adblocker Plus, Cl-oud to Butt, and Hover Hound installed. All Addons and extensions seem to be fine for me. What extensions do you have installed?Įdit 1: RKill found no processes running. I'm going to see what I find with whois and if anything is on my computer. I just had the same pop up from the second post appear for me, but a website from which the file was downloaded opened in a different tab at the same time. Is there a reliable way to give Firefox amnesia, like a factory reset? I'd like to try that next. I've got another Malwarebytes scan running right now but I suspect it won't find anything. So whatever it was, it was still a process belonging to Firefox. The dialog box and Firefox itself disappeared when I X'd the very last tab. edit: For grins, I just "X'd" out the tabs in FF. I shall kill the dialog or the browser as soon as I post this reply. So, seriously? Who is fooled by this URL?) I just got a somewhat different dialog box. Is there a penicillin shot I can get for my laptop, or do I need to get more serious with my uninstall methodology? It never comes up with any other browser. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it always comes back. I think I picked up some internet VD somewhere along the way, and it ONLY seems attached to Firefox. Happens only on my Windows 10 laptop and not on my Windows 10 workstation. Firefox and the dialog will go away, and they stay gone for a day or two, but eventually it comes back. To be safe, I don't even press "cancel" on that dialog, but instead I terminate Firefox from Task Manager. I get a small grey dialog that says I need a new version of Firefox, with a "download now" button and a URL that has nothing to do with Firefox or. The main firefox browser window locks itself and won't allow any interaction or evasive maneuvers. ![]() Lately I get something new and I can't stop it. ![]() Okay, I know what the correct Firefox update process is: You get a dialog box that says that Firefox has updated itself and it will take effect the next time you restart Firefox. ![]()
